More AFA events this month

This February is quite a busy time here at AFA, with a lot of events coming taking place not just in the DC area, but also Orlando! Add these events/dates to your calendar:

1)  AFA’s Mitchell Institute for Airpower Studies welcomes Todd Harrison, the senior fellow for defense budget studies at the Center for Strategic and Budgetary Assessments, as the next guest speaker at the upcoming Mitchell Hour.

Date: Friday, February 17, 2012

Time: 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
Location: AFA’s national headquarters at 1501 Lee Highway, Arlington, VA, 4th Floor Boardroom.

Harrison’s presentation will come just days after the Obama Administration officially releases the budget plan for FY2013. As the senior fellow for defense budget studies, Harrison will explain what the new numbers mean for the defense department today and in the future. He’ll also discuss the potential challenges that sequestration would yield. To register online for this event, go to

3) The February session of AFA’s 2012 Air Force Breakfast Program will have Lieutenant General Herbert J. “Hawk” Carlisle, Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations, Plans and Requirements, as the guest speaker.

Date: Tuesday, February 28, 2012
Time: 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
Location: Key Bridge Marriott, 1400 Lee Highway, Arlington VA, 22209

Lt. Gen. Carlisle spoke at the September 2011 session, honing in on the responsibilities and challenges of his department. However, this month’s session he will be focusing on 5th Generation Fighters (F-22 and F-35) and their roles in terms of national and global security as they struggle with delays and setbacks in a tense budget environment.
